- Description: Established in 2003, Brasil Ecodiesel is the largest producer of biodiesel in Brazil, responsible for approximately 51% of the overall production in 2006, according to the ANP, the Brazilian authority for biofuels. The Brazilian government has approved a mandatory use of 2% of biodiesel blend from 2008, which will rise to 5% from 2013 onwards. Currently, biodiesel in Brazil is predominantly marketed through public auctions organized by the ANP. In the four biodiesel auctions organized to 2006, Brasil Ecodiesel obtained the right to provide 488,000 m³ of biodiesel during 2006 and 2007, equivalent to 58.1% of the total volume allocated under the auctions. Brasil Ecodiesel has three plants in operation, one in Crato, in Ceara, other in Iraquara, in Bahia, and the third in Floriano in Piaui.
